Ep 12. Offer Positioning: How to Make Your Offer Stand Out (Branding Pie Part 2)

Nourish Your Brand · Episode 12

Last week we baked the crust, your strategy. Today it's part two of the branding pie: the filling, which is your offer. Specifically, how you position it. Just like the filling is what makes a pie satisfying, your offer positioning is what makes your brand irresistible. Let's get into it.

‍ ‍

Why offer positioning is the filling

Offer positioning is about what you sell and how you position it to stand out in a good way. It's your special sauce. In a world where almost nothing is truly new, you need to give people a reason to choose you, and your uniqueness and point of view are what anchor your brand and make it memorable. Branding the offer itself is exactly what my Offer Oven sprint is built for, but let's start with the three ways to make yours stand out. I love an alliteration, so here we go: product, perspective and personality.

‍ ‍

Stand out with your product

Your product itself can be a unique offering. You don't have to invent something never seen before, it just needs a twist that makes it different. Think of coffee, there's loads of it, but a roaster with a blend exclusive to them keeps me coming back, because I can't get it anywhere else.

Look at your current offer and see how you could tweak it. A special feature, a unique guarantee, even packaging it differently. Small adjustments that make it stand out and appeal specifically to your people. If you know who they are and what they want, that tweak can be the key to strong positioning.

‍ ‍

Stand out with your perspective

Your perspective is your unique take on your industry. How do you view the problems your clients face and the solutions you provide? It could be a specific methodology, like my branding pie three-step approach, or a philosophy you stand behind and weave through your business.

Have a think: what's one key thing that sets you apart? A special method, or the way you engage with clients? Brainstorm it, write it down, and carry it through everywhere you show up. Your perspective should link up across all your communication and reflect the impact you want to make.

‍ ‍

Stand out with your personality

Personality is my favourite, because it brings your brand to life. It's the tone, the style, the overall feel. I love how Ben & Jerry's brings ice cream to life, so distinct. Or Super Matcha, a brand I literally walked an hour to find because I love their style that much.

To make sure your personality comes through, figure out what it is first, the theme, the tone of voice, the visual feel you want to carry. Then write down every touchpoint you have with clients (website, socials, email marketing, all of it) and note how you can inject that personality into each one. That's how you build a cohesive experience that reinforces trust and familiarity and makes you recognisable everywhere. Giving your offer its own personality across every touchpoint is exactly what the Offer Oven is built for.

‍ ‍

Ask yourself this week

Run your offer through the three Ps.

Is there a twist you could add to your product to make it unmistakably yours?

What's the one perspective or method that sets you apart?

And is your personality coming through at every touchpoint, or only some?

‍ ‍

Where to go from here

Building strong offer positioning is like creating the perfect pie filling. It needs to be flavourful, satisfying and distinctly yours, so someone takes a bite and goes "yes, I know exactly who this is."

If you want your offer to truly stand out, that's what I do, the Offer Oven brands your signature offer specifically, and the Brand Kitchen sorts your whole brand around it. Book a free Brand Pairing call and we'll work out which fits. Next week, my favourite part: the topping.

Here's More…

What is offer positioning? It's how you present what you sell so it stands out and gives people a clear reason to choose you. It's not just what you offer, but how, your special sauce that makes your brand memorable.

How do I make my offer stand out? Through three Ps: product (a unique twist), perspective (your distinct take or method), and personality (the tone and feel that brings it to life). Layer those and your offer becomes hard to resist.

Why does my offer get overlooked even though it's good? Often because it isn't positioned to stand out, it blends in with everyone else's. Adding a twist, a clear point of view, and real personality is what makes people remember and choose it. The Offer Oven is built for exactly this.
