Ep 56. Do You Have a Signature Offer? (And Why It Needs Branding)
Nourish Your Brand · Episode 56
I've been banging on about how you need a signature offer and should brand it for a while now, and a few of you have asked the obvious question back: do I even have one?
It's fair, because a signature offer can take far more forms than you might realise, it's not only for people with a course or group program. Let's get into it.
What makes an offer a "signature" offer
Think of it as the flagship dish of a restaurant, the thing you're known for, the reason people come to you. A true signature offer does three things: it's repeatable (not a one-off you reinvent each time), it's scalable (you can grow it without constantly making it new), and it's the backbone of your authority (your name gets linked with it).
The quickest test: when people recommend you, what's the one thing they put your name next to? That's your signature.
Can you have more than one?
Technically yes, but only one should lead your brand, because too many signature offers equals a confused client. Imagine a chef with ten signature dishes, impressive, but it's usually one that builds the reputation. Your lead offer is the one driving roughly 80% of your results. (I made this mistake recently, trying to make another offer my signature when my Offer Oven had been it all along.)
The obvious signature offers
A scalable product (B-School by Marie Forleo).
A group program or mastermind, high-touch and premium (Luminous Launching by Rachel Emma Waring, or Steph Crowder's sold-out programs).
A membership or community you relaunch over and over.
And a productised service, like my own Offer Oven.
The not-so-obvious ones
Your signature offer can also be a platform you're known for and monetise.
A summit with its own branding that people flock to (like Atomicon).
A podcast that positions you as a thought leader (The Diary of a CEO is a brand in itself).
A newsletter as a content brand (Growth in Reverse by Chenell Basilio).
So your signature offer isn't only what you sell, it can be the signature platform you're known for.
Why a strong offer isn't enough
Once you've identified it, branding it does three things.
Recognition: when people see the name or visuals, they know it's the thing you're known for, so it becomes top of mind.
Perceived value: the way it looks sets the tone for what people will pay, looks generic, feels generic; looks high-ticket, sells high-ticket.
Scalability: a branded offer is a foundation you can grow, double down on, license or spin off. (That perceived-value piece is the whole of Episode 57)
But the order matters: identifying your signature offer comes first. Branding amplifies clarity, it can't fix a muddy, half-baked offer. Try to brand a vague one and you waste time and money. Start with a clear, strong offer and branding makes it far easier to sell and scale.
Ask yourself this week
When people recommend you, what one thing do they put your name next to?
Which of your offers drives most of your results?
Could your signature offer also be a platform, a podcast, newsletter or event?
Where to go from here
Before you worry about funnels or launches, identify your signature offer. Without one, marketing feels scattered and sales unpredictable.
With one, things click into place. And that's where branding comes in, inside the Offer Oven, I take your signature offer from forgettable to irresistible in seven days, so you can confidently raise your prices and head into your next launch. What is a signature offer? The offer you're known for, the flagship dish of your business. It's repeatable, scalable, and the backbone of your authority, the thing people put your name next to when they recommend you.
Can I have more than one signature offer? Technically yes, but only one should lead your brand. Too many confuses clients. Focus on the one driving most of your results and build around it.
Why does my signature offer need branding? Because a strong offer alone isn't enough. Branding gives it recognition, perceived value and scalability, but only once the offer itself is clear. Branding a muddy offer wastes time and money. Getting it branded is what the Offer Oven does.
