Ep 37. How to Attract Clients Instead of Chasing Them

Nourish Your Brand · Episode 37

If getting people to buy feels like an uphill battle, if you're constantly justifying your value, explaining what you do, and treating marketing like a full-time job, this one's for you. Let's get into it.

‍ ‍

You're a dish at a buffet

Imagine a buffet. Some dishes are plated beautifully, garnished just right, and smell incredible. Others might taste amazing but look basic and forgettable, so you're just not drawn to them. Which do you rush to first? The ones that catch your eye and make your mouth water.

Your business is in a buffet just like that. Your dream clients are walking around, scanning their options, deciding where to spend. If your branding isn't pulling its weight, you're the dish sitting there waiting to be noticed while others get picked first, and by the time people are full, they're too full to try you.

‍ ‍

Better skills won't fix a visibility problem

Right now you're probably pouring energy into marketing, tweaking messaging, cold pitching, networking, redoing Instagram templates, spending hours in Facebook groups, and it still feels like you have to convince people. Here's the real issue: your expertise alone isn't enough, because people make snap judgments on what they see first.

Most service providers assume that if they just keep getting better at their craft, clients will come. But you're already upskilling, refining and delivering amazing work, and still explaining your value over and over.

The one thing that's usually not locked in is branding, because it feels like a "nice to have" for later. In reality, you don't have a marketing, operations or funnels problem, you have a visibility problem. Clients don't choose someone because they're better, they choose them because they look more established and credible. (This is the cost of blending in, which I dug into in Episode 20)

‍ ‍

What changes when your branding works

This is exactly what happened when I rebranded. My old branding was fine, but it wasn't connecting or giving the right first impression. Once I changed it, selling got easier, I found it more fun to be visible, so I showed up more, and people trusted me because of how the brand looked.

When your branding works, you make a killer first impression, people instantly get who you are without clicking through ten pages. You stop being the best-kept secret and start standing out instead of blending in. And you attract clients who are ready to buy, no more over-explaining your process or bracing for price objections, because by the time they reach out, they already see you as the one. That's exactly what I help clients do in the Brand Chef's Special, so credibility does the selling for them. (If you suspect your branding's actually working against you, Episode 32 covers the signs)

‍ ‍

Ask yourself this week

If a dream client came across you online right now, would they instantly trust what you offer?

Or would they have to scroll, click around and piece together what makes you the one?

If it's the second, your branding might be the thing holding you back.

‍ ‍

Where to go from here

Your branding isn't just about looking good, it's about creating trust before the sales conversation even starts. Here's More…

How do I attract clients instead of chasing them? By making your branding do the heavy lifting, so people trust you and feel drawn in before you pitch. When your brand signals credibility instantly, the right clients come to you ready to buy.

Why isn't getting better at my craft bringing in clients? Because people make snap judgments on what they see first. If your branding doesn't look established and credible, your expertise gets overlooked, it's a visibility problem, not a skill problem.

Will branding really make selling easier? Yes. Strong branding creates trust before the sales conversation starts, so you stop over-explaining and justifying. That's what the Brand Chef's Special is designed to do.
