Celebrating 50 Episodes! 50 Branding Tips, Part 5: Growth & Engagement
Nourish Your Brand · Episode 54
The grand finale of my 50-tip series. We've covered foundations, offer branding, visual design and consistency.
Today it's growth: once your branding is solid and recognisable, the challenge is keeping it fresh, for you and your audience, as your business evolves, without throwing it all out every five minutes.
This is the long game. Let's get into it.
Ten growth and engagement tips
Review your design assets every six months. No full rebrand, just a pantry clear-out, reassess what's still usable, refine your layout, update an accent font, so your branding stays current without the overwhelm.
Scale your brand assets as you grow. The assets that supported a one-to-one service won't fit a group program. As your model changes, add branded slide decks, workbooks or polished digital downloads so the experience keeps up.
Expand your brand into new formats. Podcasts, video, in-person events. Don't copy-paste, carry your core identity, colours, tone and energy, and adapt it to each new medium so it all feels like the same brand.
Build brand moments into your client experience. On-brand email footers, milestone emails with playful gifs, a wrap-up guide. Small thoughtful touches turn a service into a whole brand experience that builds loyalty.
Let your branding evolve, but with purpose. When something feels off, ask why before tearing it down. Make intentional updates that reflect where you are now without losing the recognition you've built. (More on this in Episode 16.)
Revisit your photo library regularly. Visuals should reflect who you are now, not two years ago. If your photos no longer feel aligned, it might be time for a fresh shoot or curated stock update.
Design with a goal, not just aesthetics. Pretty design doesn't pay the bills. Before you publish, ask what this element is for, attention, curiosity, a next step, so your branding drives results instead of being wallpaper.
Don't let your branding go stale, or change it too often. The balance comes from using your branding constantly, so you stay in tune with when it genuinely needs to evolve. Season the dish, don't remake the recipe.
Evolve your design if your audience has changed. Your clients today probably aren't who you started with. If your once-playful visuals now need a refined edge, evolve in tandem so you keep resonating. An outside eye helps here.
Treat your brand like a living system. It's not one-and-done, it grows with your business. Archive what no longer fits, refine what doesn't belong, keep what feels good. That takes the pressure off it being perfect from day one.
Ask yourself this week
When did you last audit your brand assets?
Has your business (or audience) grown past your current branding?
Does each visual you publish have an actual job to do?
Where to go from here
Branding isn't just how things look, it's how they feel, for your audience and for you. When you're proud of how yours shows up, you stop hiding and start showing up like the expert you are.

Here's More…
How do I keep my branding fresh as my business grows? Audit your assets twice a year, scale them as your offers change, expand into new formats while keeping your core identity, and treat your brand as a living system you refine over time, rather than rebranding constantly.
How often should I update my branding? Little and often beats a dramatic overhaul. Review every six months, make intentional micro-updates, and use your branding constantly so you stay in tune with when it genuinely needs to evolve.
Should my branding change when my audience changes? Yes. As your clients grow and their expectations shift, evolving your visuals and voice in tandem keeps you resonating. An outside eye, like a brand designer, helps you see what to adjust.
