Ep 59. How to Repurpose Content the right way, with Felly Day
Nourish Your Brand · Episode 59
Today I'm joined by Felly Day, owner of FD Studio and host of the Unprofessional Entrepreneur podcast.
Felly runs a content repurposing agency that helps creators make the most of what they already have, without burning out or trying to be everywhere. Her approach is refreshing and seriously strategic, and she's built her brand around embracing the "unprofessional." Let's get into it.
Embracing "unprofessional" (permission-slip positioning)
Felly's whole positioning is owning being unprofessional, not as a lack of skill, but as a rebellion against the pressure to look a certain way to be taken seriously. "People pay me for my brain, not my wardrobe" became her mantra.
She had hangups about it (would people think unprofessional meant bad at her job?), but it turned into a huge attractor, permission-slip marketing, people enter her world and think "cool, I can be myself because she's being herself." As she puts it, professional is about your profession, not your appearance.
Personal brand vs agency brand
Rebranding her podcast to the Unprofessional Entrepreneur made the biggest impact, because it gave clear separation between FD Studio (the agency) and the Felly Day personal brand. People see "Unprofessional Entrepreneur," think "who's this girl, I want to know more," and dive into everything she does. (This is exactly the business-brand-vs-personal/offer-brand distinction I cover in Episode 27)
That value even shapes her delivery: no set deliverables, flexible packages, because not every client needs four blogs and eight emails. Putting the agency back in the business owner's hands is, ironically, more professional.
Repurposing isn't reposting
The biggest mistake (after not repurposing at all) is using a VA, OBM or AI to do it, which gives generic, copy-pasted content that loses your brand voice. People come to Felly saying "repurposing doesn't work, my audience can tell."
Repurposing isn't reposting and it isn't copy-pasting, it's changing the purpose and creating something new. A sales email pasted onto Instagram, where your audience is newer and wants nurturing, needs tweaks to land.
Find your core content
Felly differs from the usual "long to short" advice: she believes everyone should find their core content, not necessarily the long-form piece, but the content you most enjoy making and can create consistently.
For her it's Threads (no graphics, no editing, instant feedback); for many of her clients it's their podcast. That core content is the top of the funnel, and everything else gets repurposed from there. (My core content is this podcast, the same idea.)
Intention over vanity metrics
Felly digs into your marketing strategy: what platforms, what intention for each? Selling on email, generating leads with reels, nurturing on the podcast.
Everything has an intention, so the content drives actions tied to it. "I want more listeners / followers / subscribers" means nothing without knowing what for, more numbers without a goal keeps you stuck. (This is the same "you don't have a marketing problem, you have a..." energy as Episode 37, and the content-treadmill trap in Episode 58)
Change the angle (the CLIP framework)
Felly's framework is CLIP: Content, Location, Intention, Perspective. Perspective is the angles that stop repurposing reading as repetition. The same point becomes a myth, a mistake, an objection, an unpopular opinion, or an inspirational story.
People need to hear the same thing again and again to be ready to buy, and it might be the eighth way you say it that finally lands. And to keep it sounding like you, Felly uses your words, with an in-depth onboarding form capturing your messaging, colloquialisms and how you address your audience.
Ask yourself this week
Is your "unprofessional," or most authentic, self a positioning you could lean into?
What's your core content, the thing you'll actually create consistently?
Are you repurposing with intention and fresh angles, or just copy-pasting?
